“The Spirit of the Lord” is often thought of as a generic title of the Holy Spirit and therefore synonymous with the Holy Spirit. While it is the Holy Spirit’s working, “The Spirit of the Lord” defines a specific activity of the Holy Spirit’s ministry. It is the Holy Spirit making the Lordship of the Almighty God and His Messiah real in a specific place, person or situation. There is, however, a pathway that drains off that potential that needs to be avoided.
